A Total Success!
April 8th 2024 is a day Boone County will never forget. The total eclipse was an incredible experience that is very hard to put into words beyond “awesome” and “you had to be there!” We welcomed new friends from all over to our wonderful county and showed them the charm of our communities while they Got Mooned in Boone.
We’d like to thank all of the event organizers who put together activities over the eclipse weekend and on the big day to welcome our guests and show them what Boone County is all about. Pink Droyd Eclipse Concert
The night before the Solar Eclipse, the Boone 4H Fairgrounds will come alive with a spectacular laser light show set to the powerful music of Pink Droyd, the Midwest’s premier Pink Floyd tribute band! Farmers Bank Fieldhouse Opening
We had a great time recently checking out the new Farmers Bank Fieldhouse in Lebanon at their opening party! This 200,000 square foot athletic facility will be a great addition to Lebanon and to Boone County’s sports tourism. It offers up multiple indoor basketball courts, volleyball, pickleball, batting cages, weight room, and turf field.
This is a step in an exciting direction for that area of Lebanon just off the highway as it continues to develop in that area. At the opening, they discussed how this will bring more housing, restaurants, businesses and the aim to bring more hotels in that area for traveling athletes.
We look forward to welcoming athletes from near and far for years to come as they compete at this facility and discover Boone County!
Celebrating 20 Years!
As of today, February 3rd 2024, the Boone County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau turns 20! We’re so proud of how far we’ve come in those 20 years and we’re looking forward to furthering our mission for years to come. Today, we’ve also officially rebranded to Discover Boone County! This exciting step forward allows us to better market our county and our mission; welcoming people near and far to discover what makes our county so special.
As Boone County continues to grow and develop, we want to share just how wonderful our communities are. From small towns to growing events, we have so much to offer for those looking to get away for a weekend, plan a staycation, or get married. We’re going to have so much to share in the weeks ahead as we reintroduce people to our county and prepare for the eclipse on April 8th, but today we celebrate 20 years of growth and change.

Get Mooned With Us!
With less than 90 days until the total solar eclipse here in Boone County, it’s time to get your plans finalized! Here’s a quick guide to help you successfully Get Mooned In Boone on April 8th.
1. Find a Place to Stay
If you’re visiting from out of town, welcome! We’re excited to have you in our beautiful county for this incredible, celestial event. Given the amount of excitement around this momentous occasion, it’s important to book lodging as soon as possible. As our hotels continue to fill, check for Airbnb and Vrbo options as well!
2. Plan Where You’re Viewing the Eclipse
Whether you’re visiting or a local resident, it’s important to find a good viewing area to experience the eclipse. Luckily, there are several community organized events across our county with loads of family friendly activities. All of these events are in ideal viewing areas to ensure you have a fun, safe viewing experience. The night before the eclipse, there will also be a laser light show with Pink Droyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band!
3. Grab Your Glasses and Learn
Science is fun! This is a great opportunity to read up on what an eclipse is, fun science facts, and grab some eclipse glasses for viewing the partial eclipse before and after the total eclipse. You can read more about the eclipse here and order glasses here.
Come Celebrate the Holidays in Boone County
The Holiday Season is always extra festive in Boone County as our towns host their own special celebrations and events throughout the month of December along with our many one of a kind local shops and restaurants.
“Whether it’s a fun family Christmas outing, a holiday get together with friends or a yearly visit with Santa Claus, December in Boone County will definitely get you in the holiday spirit.” Says Boone CVB Executive Director, Allyson Gutwein, “Boone County communities love visitors this time of year.”
Zionsville’s annual Christmas in the Village begins November 24th with a parade bringing Santa Claus to his special cabin where he’ll welcome good boys and girls with their Christmas lists on weekends. The Zionsville Chamber hosts the popular Ladies Night Out Shopping event where stores stay open late for gift seekers, and groups of friends gather for the annual Christmas Crawl of local restaurants and taverns.
The Zionsville Parks Department has introduced a month-long schedule of Winterfest activities at various park locations that include a luminary walk, ornament crafting at the Nature Center, a Christmas in the Park event and an open-air Maker’s Market.
The Heart of Lebanon’s annual Christmas on the Square happens on December 2nd with a holiday parade that ends with the crowning of the Snow Flake Princess, local groups singing carols, and the lighting of the Christmas tree.
Whitestown has a brand-new holiday event – Merry at Main – to be held at Main Street Park on December 9th with local artisans’ handcrafted items, a variety of seasonal treats, food vendors, North Pole reindeer, and live entertainment. A holiday parade will also be part of the festivities. And watch out for the Grinch!
When it comes to holiday shopping, there’s nothing better than spending a crisp winter day strolling Main Street Zionsville with its locally owned shops featuring unique gifts like the freshest olive oils and balsamic vinegars, that perfect jewelry item, the latest clothing styles at Duo and Vintage Charm, and specialty shops like fivethirty home with their large selection of re-purposed furniture and home décor.
Visit the Art in Hand co-op gallery filled with paintings, pottery, glass pieces and crafts by local artists, or take in the many styles of fine art at CV Art & Frame, including one of the Midwest’s largest collections of breathtaking works by Thomas Kinkade.
For something completely different, head to Thorntown on weekends for a visit to Wyld Roots Mercantile, a lady’s boutique with a fashion twist in western style clothing and accessories. Or stop in Samson Family Leather on the Square in Lebanon where this family-owned business focuses on creating high-quality leather goods like bags, clutches, wallets and more.

Fall is Festival Season in Boone County
Boone County is happening this fall with events every weekend. Colonial times reenactors, lumberjacks, charity horse show, classic cars, carnival rides, live bluegrass to rock music, fair food, all breed dog show, polo matches, a Fall parade – even an antique apple cider press festival…whew, there’s a little bit of Boone County to please everyone.
Stone Eater bike park receives Boone CVB tourism grant.
The Boone County CVB represented by Executive Director, Allyson Gutwein, was pleased to present a tourism development grant to Stone Eater bike park! This new tourist attraction is presently under construction northwest of Lebanon, IN. Boone CVB contributes to Central Region Little League!
The Boone County Convention and Visitors Bureau was delighted to present a check to the Little League Central Region Complex located in Whitestown, IN. Presenting is Allyson Gutwein, Executive Director of the Boone CVB.
